Building a people-centric workplace by continuously listening to our employees is a core value at Meesho. All key decisions, especially those concerning our people, are taken following extensive surveys within the company. That’s how we arrived at our decision to adopt a boundaryless, Work from Anywhere model nearly a year ago – after studying multiple models and talking to our people to understand what they need to be at their productive best in a world emerging from the pandemic.
But it’s not a one and done process. As we start to think about the future, employee feedback will continue to be the guiding light driving our people decisions. In a recently conducted survey, the majority of our employees expressed the need for more in-person connects to foster collaboration, live our culture of speedy execution, and form informal bonds. As a result, starting June 1, 2023, Meesho will adopt a Flexi-Office model combining the flexibility and convenience of remote work with the energy and enthusiasm of periodic in-office presence. Employees will come to the office one day a week and can continue to work remotely for the rest of the week.
Ashish Kumar Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer at Meesho, said: “This move is rooted in our culture of proactively soliciting and acting upon employee feedback. Our internal surveys reflect that while a boundaryless set-up has shown advantages like higher productivity, employees almost unanimously agree that we can further enhance team bonding and collaboration (especially for new joiners), quicker brainstorming and speed of execution.”
Flexi-Office, a fine-tuned combination of once-a-week in-office presence and largely remote work, has been carefully crafted to deliver flexibility for employees while helping them bond and collaborate better.
Staying true to our value of building a people-centric workplace, all employees relocating to Bengaluru will get comprehensive financial support covering travel, real estate brokerage, goods transportation, school readmission for children, hotel accommodation and vehicle re-registration. We will also help people settle in comfortably by offering them relocation leave and a host of other assistance services. At the same time, working parents will continue to benefit from our sponsored daycare facilities for children under 6 years of age. Further, with this change coming into effect only around mid-2023, our employees will have enough time to plan the move in a smooth manner.
As the world of work keeps evolving, we will continue to listen intently to our employees and incorporate their feedback in our people decisions. That’s what has helped us push the envelope on employee centricity so far and it will continue to be a cornerstone of our progressive HR policies.
